Yes. All televisions should be packed during your move.
Packing your televisions guarantee the quality of your television to remain as it was prior to moving. Properly packing a television is also very important. You can purchase your own television boxes and pack your televisions yourself or hire us to pack your televisions. If you pack your television yourself, it will not be insured during your move.
Most customers have a few televisions and must face the task of packing them. The best thing to do is to let your moving company pack your television. When Lake City Mover packs your televisions, they are fully insured during your move at the valuation level you choose.
When you pack your own televisions, they are not insured and are considered “Mechanical Condition Unknown” or “MCU”. This same policy applies for all electronics that are included in your inventory for your move. Your movers should test the television before they pack it, verifying that it is mechanically in tact and then pack your television accordingly.
How is a television packed?
A television is packed with a specialty box known as a “TV Box”. Clever right? Television boxes are expensive all around for customers and moving companies.
Television boxes cost between $25 and $30 retail price. A “TV Box” is actually a kit.
What comes in a television packing kit?
- A double or triple corrugated telescopic box, the most important part of the kit. These boxes usually are built to fit up to a 65″ or 70″ television. If you have a larger television than that or a curved television, you will likely require a custom boxing, which we do offer.
- A foam sleeve that is used to protect the television screen. This sleeve is bonded on 3 sides and has one side open to easily be slid over the screen.
- Styrofoam corner pieces or foam edge protectors. There are usually 4 corner pieces or 10 or so foam edge pieces depending on the kit type.
- Styrofoam blocks. These blocks go in between the screen and the box panel, keeping the screen from being pressed against the cardboard.
Step By Step Process To Pack A Television

- Remove the television stand or mount from the television.
- Pack your mount, stand, remotes and wires in a separate box and label it.
