Below are some tips on how to pack certain items in your home. We hope you find it useful.
How To Pack Clothing
Clothing can be packed in several different ways. It is recommended that all clothing be packed into wardrobe boxes to ensure your clothes remain wrinkle free and dust free during your move. Wardrobe boxes can be provided on moving day or your clothes can be packed into wardrobes before your move. Either choice is optional and the decision is up to you. If we pack your home, you can also choose to have us use large sized boxes and fold your clothes, which could save on the cost of boxes.
How To Pack Dishes and China
Packing dishes is a tedious process with the most delicate items you own. Many customers own china and crystal dishware as well as porcelain and glassware sets. All of these types of dishes and glasses are extremely fragile and must be handled with care.
Packing dishes into dish-pack boxes is the safest box type to use because the walls are double corrugated specifically to add extra layers of protection to your dishes. Dishes should be packed vertically and glasses should be packed rim down.
When packing dishes first line the bottom of the box with packing paper then wrap each piece individually. Pack the items into the box as tight as possible one layer at a time. Add a layer of packing paper in between each layer and in any voids. Add a final layer of packing paper at the top of the box and then seal the box.
How To Pack Televisions
Packing televisions is a very important process in your move. Always make sure your televisions and other electronics are handled with the utmost care. Televisions have specialty boxes made for moving. TV box kits cost about $25 if you do not have the original box for your TV. These kits come with the box, a foam covering and Styrofoam inserts.
The first thing to do is to remove any cords and the stand or mount attached to your TV. Next, cover the TV with a foam covering or bubble wrap. Next, attach the Styrofoam corners to the television with tape. Last, insert the television into the box carefully and slide in the foam blocks on the side of the screen. This keeps the screen away from the edges of the box in case of a puncture. Also, remember to wrap and pack your television remote, cords, and any parts or pieces to your stand into the box.

How To Pack Lamps
Packing lamps is a very easy process, but it is often overlooked. All lamps are not created equal, but let’s start with table lamps.
Most table lamps can be packed with 2 boxes. One for the shade and one for the lamp. Of course, it is recommended that you combine as many shades as possible into one box. Usually a medium box does the job, but you may need an XL box depending on the size of the shades.
As for the lamp base itself, wrap the lamp in packing paper and then carefully pack it into a medium or large box lined with packing paper. You may be able to fit multiple lamp bases in the same box.
Standing lamps are also items that can be packed fairly easily. Most standing lamps can be disassembled quickly by twisting the pole along the threads you will see the lamp is actually made up of 2 – 4 pieces with a cord slid through. The average standing lamp can actually be broken down and packed into a book box!

How To Pack Books
Books are usually the most dense and heavy items in your home. When packing books we use book boxes to keep the bulk of your boxes at a reasonable weight. When packed full, using book boxes ensures each box doesn’t exceed about 20 lbs. Books can also be packed into different sized boxes and mixed with other items. It is always recommended books are packed on their face to reduce the chance of bending the cover or damaging any dust jackets.
